Statement on the 2017 Nunavut Election Results on behalf of Pauktuutit Inuit Women of Canada and President Rebecca Kudloo

Rebecca Kudloo, President of Pauktuutit Inuit Women of Canada extends their warm congratulations to all the successful candidates in Nunavut’s 2017 election. Pauktuutit is excited to see that of the 22 constituencies, six women have been elected to the Nunavut Legislature. Pauktuutit looks forward to working with the new government to advance the priorities most important to Inuit women, children and families in Nunavut.

Kudloo noted, “I congratulate all of Nunavut’s elected officials and I am proud to see that six women have been elected. I am confident that they will each bring their experiences and expertise to the important issues facing Nunavut. We look forward to working with Ministers on shared priorities in Nunavut including housing, food security, education, suicide, as well as addressing the highest rates of violence in Canada on behalf of all Nunavummiut.”
