Pauktuutit Inuit Women of Canada (Pauktuutit) is the national representative organization of Inuit women in Canada. Our mission is to foster a greater awareness of the needs of Inuit women and create change to advance women’s full social, economic, and cultural participation in communities in Inuit Nunangat, as well as cities across Canada where Inuit live.   

Pauktuutit, as the national voice of Inuit women in Canada, has a key role to play in ensuring a gender-equality lens in policies impacting Inuit Women and in promoting greater progress in priority areas for Inuit women and children, across health and well-being, violence, and abuse prevention – safety, and socio-economic development. This role will work together with the Regional Manager to represent Pauktuutit Inuit Women of Canada in fulfilling its mandate to collaboratively and effectively advocate for Inuit women’s full, equitable participation in the community, regional and national life of Canada. This role is committed to supporting Pauktuutit’s efforts in Iqaluit and the Nunavut region. The role will be responsible to support daily operations and work with the Regional Manager to ensure connectivity with all national office divisions in supporting Pauktuutit’s vision, mission, priorities, and Inuit Qaujimajatuqangit (IQ) values.

Primary Responsibilities Include:

IQ Support

  • Promotes IQ values as the foundation for all Pauktuutit engagement including advocacy, program, or communications work.
  • Builds mechanisms to ensure IQ values are incorporated in how Pauktuutit works internally and externally.
  • Review and ensure all documentation are prepared according to IQ values and guidelines.
  • Contribute to organizational knowledge sharing and learning, including participation in conferences, meetings and working groups.
  • Support capacity building initiatives and capability of Nunavut women’s organizations in line with Pauktuutit’s mission, vision, and strategic priorities.
  • Support the development of key partnerships and maintenance of strong connections including with territorial, provincial, regional, municipal/hamlet associations representing Inuit women.

Departmental Support

  • Support work that serves to engage local community members or Nunavut stakeholders, including identifying key individuals and organizations with whom to communicate, acting as the key point of contact, and participating to increase awareness of local events.
  • Support Executive and Board in local meetings 
  • Support work plans for policy, program, and community development strategies, ensuring strong linkages across Pauktuutit with the Nunavut office and key stakeholders.
  • In coordination with Pauktuutit departments, maintain information on local needs, support reporting on key outcomes and support community interactions in the Nunavut region.
  • Under the leadership of the Regional Manager, partner effectively within the cross-functional team to deliver a holistic organizational approach to organising and supporting regional engagements.


  • Support a resource centre for accessing information, supports, materials and research reports.
  • Maintain transparent communication, authentically communicate information through multiple mediums to ensure inclusive and engaged messaging.

  • Post-Secondary education in community development, sociology, gender studies, or other relevant subject or equivalent combination of education and experience working on issues impacting Inuit.
  • Minimum three years’ work experience preferably in a role supporting community-focused initiatives through policy, promotion, advocacy, and community engagement
  • Fluency in oral and written Inuktut and English
  • Lived experience in Nunavut
  • Project coordination experience including budgeting, financial tracking, and progress monitoring, preferably within a not-for-profit organization
  • Experience in supporting partnerships with external organizations, stakeholder engagement, community engagement, or project management.
  • Experience working with Inuit, and knowledge and experience of current political and health, violence and abuse prevention, and social and economic issues of Inuit.  
  • Knowledge of, or direct experience with, the Government of Nunavut and/or NTI is considered an asset.
  • Proven ability to work independently and effectively in a team-oriented environment.
  • Outstanding communication and collaboration skills, and open-minded approach to influence decision making. 
  • Ability to perform basic financial management such as processing invoices and maintaining records of activities/expenditures, and work with Finance to ensure correct financial processes are followed 
  • Ability to coordinate logistics for events, meetings, and workshops.
