Pauktuutit Inuit Women of Canada (Pauktuutit) is the national representative organization of Inuit women in Canada. This position will be primarily based at our Ottawa, Ontario office; however, remote work is currently available and could potentially be permanent based on business needs as we move forward.

The position:

Pauktuutit, as the national voice of Inuit women in Canada, has a key role to play in promoting greater progress in priority areas for Inuit women and children’s health and well-being. Our ability to do so depends heavily on partnerships across government departments, key funders, Inuit community groups and other stakeholder organizations.

Pauktuutit continues to undertake its programming work, with an increasing need to invest in the capacity to advance Inuit women’s priorities by providing advocacy for services needed and just outcomes for Inuit women, children, and families. 

We are seeking a skilled, creative individual to fill the role of Project Coordinator. The Project Coordinator maintains current subject matter knowledge as well as familiarity with relevant government funding programs and other sources of financial support. An excellent communicator with strong writing skills, the Project Coordinator can identify relevant projects of benefit to Inuit women and identify appropriate potential funders for projects.

As an ideal candidate, you are an engaging, self-motivated team player with exceptional communication skills. You have knowledge and experience of the North and share our deep commitment to advocating for, and supporting, Inuit women and their families.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Assist with the coordination and implementation of project activities including document translations, resource material production and project deliverables.
  • Develop and maintain advisory committees, including planning and coordinating teleconferences and meetings.
  • Plan and/or facilitate workshops or meetings.
  • Implement projects in accordance with the community and funding conditions in contribution agreements with funders.
  • Maintain an overview of community-based regional and national developments in health issues for Inuit women.
  • Provide regular project updates and briefings to the Manager/Director of Programs.
  • Occasionally edit/proofread/review material for other staff and related projects.
  • Assist with liaising with national and regional Inuit organizations and other agencies for the continued operation of the program.
  • Provide internal and external consultation with Inuit organizations as required.
  • Build and sustain partnerships and relationships with other Inuit organizations, communities, and services.
  • Other duties as required.


Required Qualifications:

  • Minimum 5 years of relevant work experience.
  • A university or college degree in a relevant discipline, or an acceptable combination of experience and education.
  • Specific knowledge of health, violence, abuse prevention, and socio-economic issues is highly desirable.
  • Previous experience with meeting coordination and travel logistics is highly desirable.
  • Strong skills in writing and communications, project and budget development and project co-ordination, implementation, and reporting.
  • Knowledge and experience of the North and working with Inuit.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Spoken and written Inuktut language is desirable. French is an asset.
