Pauktuutit Inuit Women of Canada (Pauktuutit) is the national representative organization of Inuit women in Canada. Our mission is to foster a greater awareness of the needs of Inuit women and create change to advance women’s full social, economic, and cultural participation in communities in Inuit Nunangat, as well as cities across Canada where Inuit live.
Pauktuutit, as the national voice of Inuit women in Canada, has a key role to play in ensuring a gender-equality lens in policies impacting Inuit Women and in promoting greater progress in priority areas for Inuit women and children, across health and well-being, violence, and abuse prevention – safety, and socio-economic development. The Regional Manager of Pauktuutit’s Iqaluit office will enable Pauktuutit’s mandate to collaboratively and effectively advocate for Inuit women’s full, equitable participation in the community, regional and national life of Canada. This role oversees Pauktuutit’s operations in Iqaluit and is a representative of Pauktuutit’s operations in the community.
This role will be responsible to lead and manage daily operations to achieve business goals, supporting policy and project outcomes and above all, adhering to Pauktuutit values and principles.
In Collaboration with the leadership team:
- Develop and implement business plans to create an Inuit Women’s Advocacy Network within Inuit Nunangat that will strengthen partnerships and build the capacity of Inuit Women.
- Develop capacity building initiatives and capability of Nunavut women’s organizations in line with Pauktuutit’s mission, vision, and strategic priorities.
- Develop and implement an Inuit Women’s Advocacy Strategy guided by the Inuit Women’s Advocacy Network.
- Develop key partnerships and maintenance of strong connections including with territorial, provincial, regional, municipal/hamlet associations representing Inuit women.
- Oversee daily operations including managing budgets.
- Plan, evaluate, and optimize operations to be efficient and cost-effective.
- Raise the profile of Pauktuutit in Nunavut including:
- Creating strong internal and external stakeholder relations.
- Arrange GN Standing Committee Appearances on behalf of the president/board.
- Expediting responses to emerging issues.
- Successfully managing escalated community issues and opportunities.
- Facilitating closer relationships with Inuit leaders and other northern organizations for advocacy on common issues.
- Enhancing Pauktuutit’s understanding of northern women’s needs and challenges.
- Linking women leaders and organizations to share promising practices.
- Prepare and present monthly, quarterly, and annual statements, analyses, and reports of operations in the region.
- Create a resource center for accessing information, supports, materials and research reports.
- Leads IQ values as the foundation for all Pauktuutit engagement including advocacy, program, or communications work.

Experience:
- 5+ Year’s work experience preferably in a role developing, implementing, and evaluating strategies and initiatives.
- Post-Secondary degree in business administration, public administration, political science, public policy, and/or equivalent combination of education and related work experience is required.
- Language – Working knowledge of Inuktut (oral and written). Fluency in English.
- Experience in initiating and building partnerships with external organizations.
- Strong relationship management skills: ability to positively interact and build relationships with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders, Including Executive Director, Board of Directors, and Federal, provincial, and territorial leaders.
- Strong Project Management ability with aptitude for managing multiple priorities simultaneously.
- Experience working with Inuit; and knowledge of the current political, social, and economic conditions of Inuit.
- Experience working within an organization focused on Inuit women’s issues.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365; and ability to operate in a digital office environment.
- Ability to travel on behalf of Pauktuutit.
- Understanding of and experience in policy management, government relations, and strategic planning processes is considered an asset.
- Demonstrable research and policy report writing skills is considered an asset.
