About Heather’s Design

I have made my Amauti with a unique Labrador style, as my elders have made before me. I used a beautiful red impression material, embellished with a beaded amamiutal for the hood of my alulil.

About Heather

I have been sewing for about 30 years and started off by making clothes for my children and my family to keep them warm during the long cold winter months. I have done various projects. I made two akulet for girls from my community, for the opening ceremony of the Canada Winter Olympic Games. I also teach women and youth how to sew atiget and akulet. I attended my first fashion show in Ottawa at the Northern Lights Tradeshow in February, 2020.
