Ullukkut,
It is with mixed emotions that I share an important update on behalf of Pauktuutit Inuit Women of Canada: after nearly nine years of dedicated service, our Chief Executive Officer, Rosemary Cooper, will be retiring on April 1, 2025.
Rosemary has dedicated her career to advancing the lives of Inuit. As the first Inuk to serve as Pauktuutit’s Executive Director, she made history by bringing valuable lived experience and deep understanding to this role. With her extensive background in policy, she has empowered Pauktuutit to advocate effectively at the national level. Her leadership has made a lasting impact, ensuring that the voices of Inuit women and gender-diverse individuals are heard and prioritized in every decision-making process. We are deeply grateful for her vision and guidance.
Over the next four months, Rosemary will work closely with the board and staff to ensure a smooth transition. Together, we will continue advancing the strategic plan and policy priorities she helped build, ensuring the incredible work she started continues.
In the meantime, we will begin the recruitment process to find a new Chief Executive Officer. In line with our mission, we are seeking an Inuk woman or gender-diverse Inuk to guide Pauktuutit into the future.
We are so thankful for Rosemary’s incredible contributions and look forward to celebrating her achievements in the months ahead.
Nakurmiik,
Nancy Etok
Chair of the Board of Directors
