Issues related to maternal and child health have been a priority for Pauktuutit since its incorporation in 1984. Since that time, Pauktuutit has developed extensive experience and expertise regarding Inuit traditional knowledge, child birth, childcare and child support issues through a long history of work related to the health of Inuit women, children and their families. Pauktuutit continues to provide resources around midwifery and prenatal care to communities, including the Born on the Land with Helping Hands, and the Inuit women’s guide and calendar to a healthy pregnancy that preserves Inuit women midwifery practices.
